Supplies!

Supplies! Ms S is actually really nice. Talked to her on the way home - she still remembers me from world finals two years ago o.O (hah, I'm wearing the dark green Michigan State shirt)
Supplies! Anything with pleats are the darndest things to iron, followed by long pants.
Supplies! This week was not the last week of school.

"Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold"

I have finally gotten down to blogging about SYF'09.
This is, undoubtedly, THE climax of my entire band life.
I have never enjoyed myself so much on stage. This time the entire performance wasn't just gone in a flash; I was so clear of everything that was happening and that's something that I've never experienced before. I don't think I've ever smiled (genuinely) after a performance besides this one. (MO SMILED.) Although Turandot wasn't the best we've played, I didn't cry after the performance like I would have two years ago - simply because I knew I had enjoyed it and all the moments leading up to our time on stage. I loved the entire process of preparing for our 15 minutes on stage on the 1st of April. I could only describe how I felt before SYF to everyone my section as 'very happy'. I love RGSSB (so much that I'm bursting out of my own skin)!
But what do we really deserve? Can it even be represented by an award? We have deserved the enjoyment we felt onstage, the passion we feel for the band and the unity we have in the face of others' casting doubts on our ability (I am not talking about the adjudicators). I don't feel that this is any less than getting a Gold, or even a Gold with Honours.
Who says we haven't worked as hard as anyone else, any other band? I don't deny that we were very disappointed with getting only a Silver at first, but upon the realisation that we've actually gotten more out of SYF'09 than just an award, I think most of us are done bawling our eyes out over the fact that we got a Silver. At least I am. And I think the most important thing here is that we didn't cry because we felt that we screwed up since we left the stage with pride and with no regrets at all.
No doubt our batch has led the band in a different way, but I don't feel as if our passion for the band was compromised in any way. Judging the spirit we have on how much we cry over something that we shouldn't even be crying about? I'm sorry but this is just ridiculous, really. Just because we don't cry as much doesn't mean that we feel less strongly about anything. Everyone who has experienced SYF'09 as part of RGSSB'09 knows the entire journey best, not anyone else.
What I feel about getting a Silver is that it was planned for us to realise and value something deeper and less superficial than results and awards. Experience winning in a different sense of the word. This is why I'm happier than ever before - I felt His presence throughout the entire process.
Going through SYF'09 and SYF'07 as a senior and a junior respectively is definitely different. This time we've had to lead our juniors instead of being led. This time our approach to getting the most of out it was different. This time I enjoyed myself more.
Also, this time round it was interesting because we were supposedly involved in a one-sided catfight HAHA. Although I was really quite upset to hear that the well-wishes we received from their bassists right before going on stage could have been said with mailicious intent. I hope that they were sincere but who knows.
And and and Abigail and Sherry and many others came to watch us :D I could see them so clearly from where I was and I was very happy to see them there! They bought ferrero rochers for us again and I always enjoy eating them :D Thanks so much for coming back!
Ah I'm also very proud of my juniors, namely Emily (the small) and my dear directs Chong Rong and Yi Xian :D I also saw Emily (my awesome SBM/table mate) cry tear for the very first time. I also saw Kang Jie (also my awesome SBM) become increasingly strange in the days leading up to SYF. Love love love Basses!
I'm happy happy happy. And awfully proud of being an RGSSB band girl.

Coloured paper

I was studying for Math/Chem and was using rough paper for calculations, when something/someone told me to flip the pieces of paper over to look at the used sides. I was very amused by what I found:

What's going on on the floor floating platform?

What I learnt today:
1. Husbands from the days of yore like to subject their better halves to the flash lights resulting from their penchant to take photos at every. single. opportunity.
2. The wives often don't smile/smile half-heartedly.
3. When led by a performer to clap to the beats of the music, the only ones left clapping after approximately 10 seconds are mostly middle-aged aunties.
4. Don't get tricked by your rumbling stomach into buying something you didn't like for the second time.
5. I am a middle-aged auntie.
